Ideas for Safe Outdoor Family Photography Sessions | Melbourne Family Photographer

Sound the horns, outdoor sessions are returning soon! In-home sessions may have to wait a bit longer, but thankfully spring is here and we can make the most of the weather while safely being outdoors capturing your special family memories.

I absolutely LOVE photographing in the home (for SO many reasons), but there are many experiences and activities that we have outdoors that are just as meaningful as those in the home.

Here are a few ideas of outdoor activities that would be perfect to document during a session:

WATER PLAY

The weather is getting warmer and it’s time to get back in the water! Play in your pool, the sprinkler, a water table, or with water balloons.

BEACH

We’re so lucky where we live to have so many gorgeous beaches on our doorsteps.

Jump the waves, have a swim, walk along the water’s edge, climb the rocks, explore the beach houses, build sandcastles, look for shells, have a picnic, or fly kites.

PARK

We can explore the paths of your local park, play on the playground or have a picnic.

FOOD

A picnic at your local park, fish and chips at the beach, a family BBQ in the garden or light the fire pit and roast some marshmallows.

YOUR GARDEN

Play on the swings, trampolines, ball sports, bikes and scooters, or in cubby houses. Grab the side walk chalk or paints and let the kids make a mess and get creative! Play with your family pets. Have a snack or a meal together on the back deck.

Your garden is an extension of your home and there is are SO many meaningful memories we can capture without ever going indoors.

EXPLORE ON FOOT/BIKE/SCOOTER

The daily family walk/bike ride/scooter ride has become extremely popular since COVID entered the world. Let’s head out and explore where you live!

Show me around your neighbourhood, take me along your favourite paths, point out the flowers, trees or animals you like to look at. Let’s document this tradition in your family to look back on when this is all over.

Lockdowns and restrictions may be hard, but they don’t have to take all the fun away!

These are just a few ideas for a safe, socially distanced, outdoor session that will make for wonderful memories for your family.

A few reminders:

  • I am fully vaccinated

  • All equipment is thoroughly cleaned before each session

  • Hand sanitiser will be used throughout session

  • I will keep a minimum of 1.5 meters away from all family members

  • If anyone is unwell, the session will be rescheduled

  • I will wear a mask during the session for as long as mandated necessary, but you won’t need to
